The Day-Date 18238 is the fifth generation of Rolex’s flagship President. It was introduced in 1988 and kept the classic 36mm case but came with a big upgrade: the double quickset mechanism for both day and date. The X serial on this one dates it to 1991, right around the time the double quickset had been properly established in the line-up. The champagne dial with factory diamond hour markers was a popular option back then—it adds a bit of flash without losing the dressy feel of the watch.
